Design of Resume by Design was simple, plain, two-colored without all those pop-ups and bright images – this was the first thing I noticed about them. They claimed to be specialists in resume writing, career guidance and interview coaching and the front page promised to market me perfectly for a new job. It was especially tempting for me to use their services considering the fact that I wanted to apply for a Sr Finance Manager position, but wasn’t sure if I had what it takes.

Price policy

Under the separate tab I’ve found their price range for various services. Resume writing varies from $190 to $500, cover letter is $60-$120, job interview coaching will cost you $160-280. As for me, the prices are quite average for this business; nevertheless, the number of options is too small. For instance, Perfect Resume Company also offer LinkedIn and follow-up letters. What is more, they don’t issue refunds – keep this in mind before sending the money.

Details of order

I emailed my old resume and job ad as requested, and the next day got a quote (I had to pay $400 for resume and cover letter). I proceeded with payment only then, and was informed that the final product will be delivered within 5-7 business days. Of course, sooner would be better, but I didn’t mind waiting. Two days later we had some sort of a short interview: the writer asked me the questions which my old resume didn’t cover and asked for more detail about my career goals.

Quality of support and writing

Actually, I haven’t had any situations which would need an immediate assistance. However, they have a phone number and even a business address. I suspect though they were not 24/7 as they didn’t sound as a big resume company. They didn’t have any promises about the delivery time; my package was sent to me within the time frame the writer specified after I placed an order.

Conclusion

I’m not a resume expert, but having read a resume they’ve written I had a strong impression that it would be a great fit to apply as a Finance Manager, but I expected to obtain a higher position. My resume had a good design and the career history looked much better than before. Nevertheless, it didn’t showcase enough skills and responsibility for a senior position. So basically I didn’t get what I expected.
